Meet Johannes Kneip

The Schlemmereule is a true Trier institution: Founded by Peter Schmalen and shaped over three decades, the Schlemmereule opened a new chapter in 2023 with Johannes Maria Keip as owner and head chef. After years in top kitchens such as Söl'ring Hof (Sylt), Facil (Berlin), Mural, and Sparkling Bistro (Munich), Johannes returned home – with fresh ideas, but preserving the spirit and roots of this beloved restaurant, which he affectionately calls his living room. Thank you, Johannes, for sharing your story and the inspirations behind the new Schlemmereule – one of our favorite spots in Trier.
